East York Basketball Club - Home
Formed in February of 2005 the East York Basketball Club has a simple game plan - to provide the youth of East York and Toronto with the opportunity to grow and enjoy life through the sport of basketball. The EYBC and its sports programs are a means for building character, developing friendships and having a whole lot of fun!
EYBC supports both House League and Rep. Programs.
House League
The house league is co-ed concentrating on skills development, participation and fun. It runs from mid September to before march break, with breaks for Thanksgiving and the Xmas, New Year period.
All sessions will be 1.5 hours (except for Tyke which is one hour). The first part of each session will be devoted to teaching the fundamentals of the game with instruction and drills. The second portion will be house league games with coaches and referees.
All participants are provided a reversible jersey with number and an appropriately sized basketball during at registration. Participants are asked to bring their ball to each session so that they can fully participate in the drills.
All house league activity takes place at Cosburn Middle School on Saturdays.
Rep Teams
Each year numerous competitive rep. teams are organized to participate in OBA sanctioned games and tournaments with other clubs. Teams are chosen following try-outs in mid fall and run through to OBA championship weekends in the spring. Each team manages their own budget making decisions about uniforms, equipment and the number of tournaments they participate in.
Club Governance
East York Basketball Club is a non-profit organization managed by a Board of Directors and is a member Basketball Ontario. As the Club continues to grow in membership and programs, the need for volunteers also grows. If you are interested in helping the youth of Toronto in learning about basketball please volunteer. We need house league supervisors, house league coaches, managers and referees. If your interest is more in helping with the rep program please contact the Club. If you just want to help but know very little about basketball we will help you to learn about this great game. Let us help you so that you can help others.
