  • Commitment:

Rep basketball requires a significant time commitment from players and their parents during the season. The East York Rep program is intended for young athletes who are committed to learning and developing their skills and are serious about playing basketball at a competitive level. As a member of a rep team, players and their parents must recognize that participation requires a commitment to their teammates and the coaching staff. As such, it is very difficult for athletes to play competitive basketball and another competitive sport in the winter season.

  • Cost:

Players chosen for a team will be required to pay a fee of $300 to $500 as determined by the coach that will cover most team related expenses. In addition families are responsible for their own out of town expenses.

  • Practices and Tournaments:

Each week during the season there could be 1-3 practices or games. There will be 2 to 6 weekend tournaments during the season mostly within the GTA. Additionally a team will most likely participate in at least one out of town tournament during the year. Exhibition games may also be selectively scheduled on weekdays or weekends. The number of tournaments and games will be determined by the coaching staff in consultation with the players and parents.

  • The Ontario Cup

The tournament season culminates with Basketball Ontario’s Provincial Championships “The Ontario Cup” is a one weekend tournament in March through May depending on the age group.

  • Season Length:

Tryouts begin in September and the season starts up in November. Tournaments are played throughout the season ending in the Ontario Cup which starts at the end of March for the youngest age groups and finishes at the end of May for the older age groups
